We know that the word “democracy” is not found in the U.S. Constitution, but does that mean the inference is not really there?
Can it be that the word democracy is concealed behind those three famous words that begin the U.S. Constitution, the preamble, “we the people?” Those three words are the building blocks of America’s unique ideals. Perhaps from the moment those words were incorporated into the U.S. Constitution, America would implicitly tout itself as a democracy. Perhaps our nation’s founders knew that the words “we the people” would, at some point in history, largely be open to interpretation.
