Nonetheless, eviction is a byproduct of gentrification that often targets Blacks, other minorities, and poor inner-city residents. Therefore, Black leaders and relevant government officials should not drop the ball as it concerns America’s most vulnerable citizens. IBW21 is one such organization that’s embedded in the fight. Its focus targets any dire effects of real estate development in urban districts. According to an article posted in U.S. News & World Report, a March 2019 study done by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition revealed that Washington, D.C., maintained “the highest intensity of gentrification” out of 10 cities noted.
