We’ve heard the sentiment before: ‘I’m not goin talk about that — MASSA might be listening!'”
And so this post carries a simple message in that we have to stop being afraid to speak up, especially when we know the facts about a particular situation and innocent people are at grave risk, or speaking up will create better circumstances — or a better environment for people unjustly wronged.

Many of us know someone who’ve been afraid to speak their minds, or align themselves with the truth, for fear what the physical outcome might be, or what someone else might think or say. Through centuries of slavery, reconstruction, civil rights, jim crow, etc. etc., I’d like to think African Americans for the most part have gotten pass certain fears involving speaking their minds, but many fears of the kind still exist, often driven by the anxiety of livelihoods and/or class politics.
