Below are some tips you can use to help ascertain whether or not an American Black news anchor is genuine about making a positive difference in the Black community. But more importantly, assess the anchor’s character and integrity, and/or distinguish if the anchor is likely controlled by carrots and sticks, the proverbial bureaucratic puppet masters, or dollar signs.
Here are the tips: (1) How often does the Black Anchor cover tough socioeconomic issues that are afflicting the Black community? (i.e., poverty, crime, incarcerations, gun violence, corporate and government corruption that are negatively affecting the Black community, etc.). (2) What is their body language when conversing with the marginally or poorly educated Black community? For example, does their body language appear distant, self-important, patronizing, and condescending? (i.e., exhibiting an uncomfortable outward appearance in the presence of less fortunate Black people, frequent arm-crossing, slight facial expressions of disgust and loathing, etc.) And lastly, (3) How many interviews are they doing with ordinary Black folk as opposed to securing ones with the biggest Black celebrity they can find, usually to appease corporate executives, boost ratings, and/or adhere to journalistic revenue-driving protocols?
