The Black Power Movement was never about the radicalization of black people in America. It was about racial equality, diversity, equity, and inclusion, long overdue for black people who endured years of slavery, Jim Crow, and the ongoing oppression of black people in America. The movement emphasized black pride, economic empowerment, the establishment of political and cultural institutions, as well as robust educational programs unique to the black experience. To believe otherwise is to distort the true essence of the movement.
