Slavery And Civil War Were Not Mutually Exclusive

If you’ve struggled to put the words “American slavery” and “civil war” in the same sentence and want to be President of the United States of America, then perhaps that candidate should reconsider holding such an office on the basis that more than 700,000 soldiers lost their lives over an exceptionally evil construct where African Americans would remain both a commodity and the property of men and women who had strayed so far away from the essence of humanity for personal convenience and lots of unearned wealth.
