Devil’s Advocate: They are different industrialized media platforms, but many might argue they’d have (and/or have had) the same long-term effects on your children who are now in their adolescence—and/or “young folk” in general. So how is that TikTok is in need of greater user or viewer restrictions placed on young folk (though I’d be indifferent to the outcome of the platform’s future either way), but America’s mainstream media (including its intrusive and often obnoxious cable TV commercials) does not? Therefore, with all due respect, are we exhibiting a slanted democratic deportment by keeping some forms of media ideas that are powerful, socially convenient, and entertaining (censored and suppressed) where others are allowed to flourish despite their inherent, historical, and ongoing nuisances?
