When Black people are at a point in time where precepts formed by historically racist institutions are no longer a precondition to boast about their stellar achievements, then that may stand as evidence to how far America has advanced its civil and political rights agenda. As of now, White institutions and corporations serve as the backbone on which Black folk collaborates and tie their successes, an impediment that fundamentally needs to change. We can’t hide the undercurrents of what’s wrong, but we can endeavor to fix them in a manner that’s equitable to those that’s harmed.
Don’t forget “[to give] credit where credit’s due.” It’s an old proverb with a good reputation.
