What are the cultural and professional drivers that have caused a media frenzy and radical differences in media coverage around Taylor Swift (the most famous woman on the planet, according to CNN’s reports) and Simone Biles (the Olympic gymnast’s GOAT, according to NBC reports)? Both women have popular NFL players as either spouses or fiancés. Biles is married to Jonathan Owens, and Swift is engaged to Travis Kelce.
I think it’s a fair question and debate considering that many Americans, as well as fans of both couples from around the globe, may be intrigued to learn how such media sources reconcile the overwhelming differences in coverage.
