I wonder how closely African American political talking heads, historians, scholars, intellectuals, politicians, and other journalists are observing Ali Velshi. It seems MS NOW and Ali Velshi are in a secret partnership to grow a powerful conservative South Asian political base. Over time, the contiguous downstream effects will further decimate African Americans’ political power base and ultimately add to the ongoing decline of their quality of life. Wake up, Black people!
How it happens: South Asians who migrate to the U.S. under its H-1B visa program are some of India’s best and brightest. Due to their highly specialized skills and the income that accompanies them, it’s conceivable that those migrants would likely enter into a much higher tax bracket than most African Americans. Likewise, migrant minorities don’t share a whole lot of empathy for African Americans, and it pains me to add South Asians to those horrible assertions. Nonetheless, the truth has to be explored and conveyed with similar assertiveness. Traditionally, individuals in higher tax brackets (including South Asians) tend to vote Republican and share conservative views. Well-versed African Americans know that H-1B visa holders cannot participate in U.S. federal elections. However, “birthright citizenship” would subsequently entitle those visa holders’ kids (the second generation) to vote once they reach 18 years old. Perhaps it’s safe to assume that those second-generation kids, from cradle to adulthood, were politically well-coached by their parents. Therefore, by the time such kids were granted permission to vote, America’s biased and racist political systems and their parents’ awareness and acceptance of it may have already influenced and informed their kids’ voting behaviors.
In an elementary sense, hopefully the information above adds more context about the existing political vulnerabilities that African Americans are faced with today. However, it’s not a reason for Black people to despise Ali Velshi as a human being. Nonetheless, it’s an urgent reason to laser-focus on MS NOW’S TV anchor strategies as well as Mr. Velshi’s sneakiness and broadcasting behaviors.
