If you think the mainstream media has neither a past nor a hand in being a clannish and racist industry that helped foil either an adequate or responsible delineation of Black people in America, then you’ve simply not understood the gravity and breadth of the media’s history very well. Quite frankly, due to the media’s enormous power and the culture that has both owned it and shaped its business models, the media has had a lugubrious impact on the psyche and well-being of Black Americans from its humbling beginnings to how the media provides its services today. Mind you, this would be intelligent verbiage that ought to matter to both Black Americans and media sympathizers alike.
