To all the original founders, legends of the genre, back office people, consumers, and fans alike that have made the genre iconic and a world phenomenon, know that CNN News Central, on 8/11/2023, during a morning segment with John Berman and Kate Bolduan, these two news anchors and/or their producer(s), decided to make a shout-out to Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary, metaphorically, an eye-blink, the very last part of their segment just prior to signing off.
It’s a big slap in the face and a sobering reminder that regardless of African Americans’ achievements, they will always be mediocre and marginalized by the powers that be. Not until Black people start aggressively pouring their intellectual and financial capital into their own ideas, led by Black people using their own robust infrastructure, will organizations like CNN News Central begin changing their approach to the incredible genius of Black people.
More importantly, until Black people collectively accept exceedingly more responsibility for their own destiny, Hip-Hop and any other inventions we create will be marginalized and mediocre in the eyes of the powers that be on a worldwide scale. Stay “woke” and trust this harsh truth.
Likewise, as “Top News Anchors,” there’s nothing personal against John Berman and Kate Bolduan, but it is what it is.
