I admit — I feel STUPID like the word suggest in “All things STUPID about the news.” Why? For not acquiring John’s intellectual property and launching that news monitoring and censuring venture. John’s twenty-five-million asking price would’ve been a drop in the bucket in hindsight. Particularly, realizing now that social media is a heavily regulated industry [thanks to U.S. Congress], and America’s news industry has reclaimed its role as the leading legitimate news source while marginalizing social media platforms. I allowed my arrogance and biases to get in the way of shrewd deal-making, not to mention all the ill-advised dissuasion not to acquire John’s intellectual property. Now, what used to be social media icons [i.e., Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Myspace, etc.] are merely chopped-liver for the news industry to make a mockery of, and there’s no trump card such as an [All things STUPID about the news] to soften the fall. BOY, the news industry played us social media giants like a fiddle, and now Congress and its news industry puppets are laughing all the way to the bank. Now “social media as a news source” has lost its edge.
— STUPID ME!
