Metaphorically speaking, without “net neutrality,” the public’s interest in a free and open internet may be severely obstructed by bureaucracy and regulations that throttle (reduce users’ speed) and/or, worse, block access to the internet’s airways, flightpaths, and information superhighways. By imposing exorbitant fees on internet users, ISPs (i.e., telecommunication companies) may be able to adversely affect how users access their services.
