Someone labeled me “another opportunist” after I shared my brand’s principles with eleven million followers of The Economist.
What was funny as hell is that; the individual who asserted the label befitted me had never met me her entire life. And so, I assume her assertion was purely motivated by self-interests, perhaps a corporate interest too, considering who I am, who she is, the platform I was on, the timing of her assertion. Anyways, I responded with grace by describing to her what I thought the relationships between an opportunist and a cynic were, as follows:
I think the relationship between an opportunist and a cynic is that they are both opportunists. On the other hand, a visionary sees the future in ways that challenge the status quo. They will exploit ideas, events, and or circumstances to affect change, for better or worse, largely dependent on the kinds of opportunities involved.
More importantly, I’m no opportunist in the sense that I won’t attempt to sell, start a business, or accept any payments thereof if such arrangements conflict with my moral beliefs.
