Someone labeled me “another opportunist” after I shared my brand’s principles with eleven million followers of The Economist.
What was funny as hell is that; the individual who asserted the label befitted me had never met me her entire life. And so, I assume her assertion was purely motivated by self-interests, perhaps a corporate interest too, considering who I am, who she is, the platform I was on, the timing of her assertion. Anyways, I responded with grace by describing to her what I thought the relationships between an opportunist and a cynic were, as follows:
The relationship between an opportunist and a cynic is that they are both opportunists. By comparison, a visionary sees the future in ways that challenge the status quo. He or she exploits ideas, events, or circumstances to affect change, for better or worse, primarily contingent on the subject matter involved.
More importantly, I’m no opportunist, particularly in that I won’t sell an item, start a business, nor accept any payment if such arrangements conflict with my moral beliefs.
