New York City Formerly Freedom Tower: As a symbol and in remembrance of all the civilian emergency responders and soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors who too lost their lives as a result of the 9/11 attacks.
White House: “A Proclamation on Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, 2023”
As a sobering reminder, freedom comes at a high cost every day, either in the form of life lost while performing duties as a public servant, when serving at high levels of government and charged with creating and implementing legislation and policies that defend against domestic terrorism and other social ills of society, or merely being an activist endeavoring to protect citizens against the intrusions of corrupt institutions and corporations around the globe. We know that what happened on that fateful day of 9/11/2001 represents more than merely a graphic memory of the past—it is a prospect and a reality that America has to contend with on a daily basis. As fellow citizens and champions alike, we honor the losses that occurred on 9/11 and are, in many ways, obligated to fight for the basic freedoms of every American and to inspire those initiatives across God’s beautiful green and blue planet, outer space, and celestial bodies too.
