Social media can be just as fake as fake news. It’s sort of like “The Matrix.” Unless one realizes the extent to which they are being harmed, then they may never realize the full effects of the harm that was inflicted upon them. And remember, The Matrix always used aggressive behaviors to help normalize any evil it imposed on society.
Realistically speaking, administrators of social media companies have the power to create fake accounts, fake visitors, fake followers, and fake likes, provided that they have access to the platform’s master administrative accounts. But more disconcerting is that the site’s company, meaning its executive management, may uphold wicked agendas targeted toward entire cultures. Therefore, any social media company with either tens of millions, hundreds of millions, or even billions of “so-called” active social media accounts would be acutely susceptible to hostile acts that are partial to members and businesses of its active user bases.
