This Independence Day, we encourage you, family, friends, and colleagues to stay safe as you engage in any festivities to commemorate our nation’s 248th birthday.
Likewise, we’re also taking a moment to reflect on our nation’s democracy, both now and in the future, particularly in that democracy is always a work in progress and not a guaranteed distinguishing factor (or “way of life”) in terms of our country’s political system. When someone or something threatens the freedoms of our nation’s citizens, then the natural reaction is to mount an aggressive fight. The same reaction applies if an existential threat targets the democracy of our nation. As tens of millions of Americans may already know, voting our conscience and not our desires is the key to facilitating and maintaining a healthy and vibrant democracy. Happy voting in light of our nation’s 248th birthday.
